Naples History & Tourism Drives Massive Real Estate Demand for Decades

Perhaps you've always wanted to live in Florida, or you have recently relocated to the Gulf Coast region for employment. Whatever brought you to Naples, you're in luck since the quality of living in this seaside paradise is unmatched. Warm, sunny weather, high-end shopping, and top-notch cuisine await you. Naples will enchant you from the moment you arrive, with its quaint old downtown and breathtaking coastal landscapes. The city is one of the wealthiest in the country, with more millionaires per capita than virtually any other town in the United States. However, you don't have to be a millionaire to relocate to Naples. The tourism and hospitality sectors are flourishing in Naples and nearby Fort Meyers, ensuring that you can always find work in one of Florida's most beautiful Gulf Coast communities. Keeping the momentum going, developers in Naples are very conscientious of the environment and wildlife surrounding it.

During US surveys of Southwest Florida in the late 1800s, a senator from Louisville, General John S. Williams, was enthralled by descriptions of the area and decided to come, acquire property, and create a city. For the journey, he gained the support of Walter Haldeman, the proprietor of the Louisville Courier-Journal newspaper. In 1885, the men rented a boat and proceeded down the coast, searching for a piece of the mainland on which to build their city. They observed stretches of beaches as they sailed by what is now called Naples, and when they encountered a bay immediately beyond the beach, they felt they had discovered heaven. In the fall of 1886, the Naples Town Improvement Company was formed to establish a town named Naples and develop it as a winter destination. For $11,136, or $3 per acre, the company acquired 3,712 acres between the Gulf of Mexico and what is now known as Naples Bay.

Residents from cold-weather areas – known as "snowbirds" – rush to the Naples and Marco Island area throughout the winter months to enjoy Florida's practically limitless supply of sunshine and pleasant weather. As the summer months approach, those seasonal inhabitants abandon their second homes in Naples and Marco Island. In Southwest Florida, postcard-perfect beaches meet the best of arts, culture, shopping, cuisine, and nature in Naples, Marco Island, and the Everglades. Whether you're searching for a spa break, a romantic getaway, or a tropical drink in the sand, full-service beachfront resorts accommodate every vacation mood. For those of us who may not have been born in this fabulous city, we still find a philosophical approach to knowing that living here is impeccable.

Naples has traditionally excelled in real estate development, but the recent boom of ecotourism has drawn a new breed of visitors who like to go active and explore rather than sit idle on the beach. If there ever were a city that strives to continuously improve living conditions and infrastructure, then you have found your calling here. Naples has shifted its focus to provide new programs, trips, and experiences that immerse guests in the Everglades and the Thousand Islands. Residents and tourists may observe waterfowl in their natural environment, marvel at the lush greenery and different ecosystems, and even get some exercise while doing so in these beautiful nature preserves. The Naples Zoo in Caribbean Gardens will delight children. The serenity of Naples Botanical Garden, located on Bay Shore Drive, will appeal to adults. Many retirees too are really loving living in Naples. They get to see their grandkids grow up in a safe and stable community. An underrated way to live would be one way of summing up life in Naples our beautiful Southwest Florida getaway.
