The tennis world is a much better place these days thanks to all of the amazing tennis communities dispersed throughout Southwest Florida. Naples is no different and is home to world renowned tennis communities. One of them that comes top of mind is the Naples Bath and Tennis Club. Home to 37 tennis courts, it is no wonder that Emilio Sanchez are former top 5 ATP player in the world. He is the brother of Arantxa Sanchez Vicario who was formerly number one in the world on the women's WTA professional tour. World Tennis Club is just across the street and also home to multiple clay courts. Both gated communities are founded on the historic principles of the tennis world in which the main center court is overlooked by a beautiful clubhouse. This ensures for the main finals matches that are typically played on Sundays when tournaments are held, to offer the residents and viewers an award winning atmosphere.
Naples is also a great place for tennis players traveling in between Sarasota/Bradenton and Miami. Being that both of these locations are major tennis hubs in the large scheme of things, Naples is right in the middle of both. You can easily break a trip up and stay the evening in Naples. The majority of tennis in Naples especially the gated communities all have tennis courts as part of their amenities center. Har-tru courts are approximately 80% of those that make up the entire total tennis court count in all Naples Florida. Hard courts are becoming a little bit more scarce. With har-tru courts which are basically another form of clay (except dark green and not red), it is easier on the body. Therefore, retirees and seniors are really taking a liking to playing doubles and singles on clay. Hard-courts have a bounce that is more consistent due to it's surface, however the har tru is a bit slower making it easier to connect with the ball.
Real estate in Olde Naples close to Cambier Park is simply breathtaking. The tennis club is really sought after and it's members have forged longtime friendships over the years. Port Royal has been the most exclusive community for several decades and it's very private tennis club is one of the reasons for it. Also, a har-tru tennis community. Florida is such a super big traffic area for professional tennis players, that many of them own second homes here. It is the perfect central location since it is very hot and humid making the training conditions as tough as it gets. Tennis players figure if they can make it here then their endurance will be ready for any tournament in the world. It also makes traveling back to Europe fairly convenient. Several high profile tennis clubs like Hideaway Beach in Marco Island and those in Sanibel offer the best tennis and country club privileges available. Tennis has always been a sport of class and homes that come with private tennis courts have never seen too many days on market. If anything, there are plenty of buyers in Florida looking at just that, a tennis court in their own private backyard.
